Why participate in Alumni Day?
"As the time neared for my ten year high school reunion I found myself actually excited at the prospect of reconnecting with classmates, catching up with each other about what's changed in the last decade, and building an awesome float for the 2009 alumni parade!
A group of us got together in the early spring to organize the designing and
constructing of the float. This turned out to be easier than I thought it would
be. With so many different ways to stay connected to people these days, it
wasn't difficult to get input from classmates, assign tasks and get things
together. Facebook, email and cell phones are owed some major credit for our
success in building a great float and organizing our own awesome reunion held at a local pub the night of the parade.
As word spread about our float and reunion, more and more people wanted to get involved. When we all got together in June to assemble the float, it was great to see old friends and catch up. Though our lives had changed so much over the past ten years, we learned we were still a part of each others history, and able to work together as a team while having a great time doing so.
Oh yeah, did I mention we won second place for our float? Not too bad for our
first reunion! We'll see what 2014 brings."
